The Machame Route; well known as the “Whiskey Route” begin in the south of the mountain. It is the most-traveled route on Kilimanjaro. Approximately 40% of climber choose this route. The trail is challenging but climbers are rewarded with its’ beautiful scenery. The Machame Route follows ‘trek high – sleep low trend’, thus, higher summit success rate as compared to Marangu route! The Machame route can be done in a minimum of six days and physical fitness is required. An extra acclimatization day is recommended at Karanga Valley for beginners. This allows beginner climbers more rest before heading to the base camp ready to face the final challenge!
